Parishes: Holy, Engaged, Alive and the Year of Faith

With his Apostolic Letter of October 11, 2011, Porta Fidel…, Pope Benedict XVI declared that a “Year of Faith” will begin on October 11, 2012 which is the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of Vatican II and also the twentieth anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Additionally, the emphasis will be on “The Door of Faith (Acts 14:27)”. Many of the suggestions for celebrating have been communicated from Rome and the U.S.conference of Catholic Bishops are already busy making the vision of the Pastoral Letter a reality in the parishes.
St. Francis Xavier will be designated as our patron saint.
St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help will be designated as pilgrimage sites.
The Year of Faith Prayer has been Written by Bishop
Bishop Ricken will be doing four DVD presentations on “Celebrating the Lord’s Day.”
A Lenten parish Reconciliation Program is available called “The Light is On for You”.
An Hour of Adoration will be held on June 2, 2012.
A Feast of the Assumption Mass will be held on August 15 at the Shrine of Our lady of Good Help.
There will be a special closing ritual on November 24, 2013.
