Hello, fellow parishioners,

Some of you may already know me, but in case you don’t, I am Dave Greenfield – Director of Music Ministry. My family and I moved to the Waupaca area in 1994 from Rockford, Illinois and have been members of the parish since then. I have been privileged to be the Director of Music Ministry since August of 2007, taking over from Holly Jackson- Saunders. My training consists of a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Illinois.

We are very fortunate have not just one, but two distinct adult choirs in our parish. One group sings at the 9:30 mass and one at the 11:00 mass. We also have a contemporary music group called the Celebration Choir, which is made up of members of the other two choirs plus some additional instrumentalists.

The Celebration Choir usually sings on the 3rd weekend of the month except during the summer months. The “regular” choirs sing for mass on all the other weekends. In addition to the choirs, we have an active cantor ministry.

Generally, our cantors lead the music at the 4:30 Saturday mass.

Although we have a wonderfully loyal group of singers in our choirs, we are always looking for new members. I know there are many good singers out there in the congregation, because my wife Kirsten hears you singing during mass. She might say that she is my “choir scout”. It’s not difficult to join us, just talk to me anytime you see me. It’s not even necessary that you read music.

The only requirement is that you love to sing. The 9:30 choir rehearses at 8:45 and the 11:00 choir around 10:30 (depending on what time the 9:30 mass ends).

During Christmas and Easter seasons we of course have additional rehearsals, because there is so much wonderful music to learn. I’m sure you noticed that we have additional instrumentalists besides piano and organ. So, if you play an instrument and would like to join us, please let me know.

Finally, I would like to thank all our wonderful singers, cantors, instrumentalists and especially our organist/pianist Barb Kirk for all the time and effort they put into creating beautiful music in our parish. I am privileged to work with them all.

I know that there are many talented singers in our parish. Please consider joining either the 9:30 or 11:00 choirs. Feel free to come and speak to Dave Greenfield after mass or call him at 715-256-4119.
