DID YOU KNOW THAT CATHOLIC CHARITIES HAS A OFFICE AT ST. MARY MAGDALENE?
The office provides counseling by a licensed clinical social worker for individuals and family problems as well as substance abuse problems. To create more of an awareness of these services right here in our own church offices, Lauri VandenBoom, facilitator of the Social Concerns Committee decided to interview Tom Sebora, who is the social worker here.
Can you tell us about your particular expertise in counseling?
I am a licensed clinical social worker in mental health with certifications in Marriage and Family Therapy, Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Compulsive Gambling and Family Violence.
How does your work with Catholic Charities influence your ability to incorporate a spiritual component within your counseling sessions?
Every emotional problem has a spiritual aspect to it. If people hurt emotionally, they’re also hurting spiritually. Working for Catholic Charities allows me to focus on both needs, particularly if they bring a strong faith to counseling.
Who is eligible for counseling?
Anyone in the community is welcome regardless of religious affiliation.
What methods of payments are available for your services at Catholic Charities?
Most insurances cover our services including Medical Assistance, Badgercare and Medicare. For those with limited resources, our fee is based on ability to pay.
Tom is available for counseling on Wednesday and Friday from 8-5 in his office at St. Mary Magdalene. You can call him any day, however, at 920-680-7450. Catholic Charities is a state certified clinic for adults, families and couples..
