SMM Annual Festival

YOUR Parish Festival is coming! This is YOUR Festival. It’s all about you and your family. It will begin with an outdoor polka Mass celebrated by Father Amal at 10:00 am. (There will be an 8:00 am Mass but not a 9:30 am Mass) The Mass will be held under the big tent. The Ray Konkol Band will play and sing polka style. Two of our very own parishioners will be singing, Shirley Ostrowski and Barb Millin. After the Mass, The Ray Konkel Band will continue to entertain you until 3:00 pm.

RAFFLES
You have an opportunity to win some real quality prizes. There is a bike raffle for your kids and a cash raffle for you. There are 5 separate drawings for the cash raffle—$1000, $500, $250, $100 and $50. Your raffle tickets are in the envelopes with your name on them on the tables in the narthex. Please take a minute to pick them up. “The only way to win is to purchase a ticket.” You do not have to be present to win!! More tickets are available in the parish office.
The BIG raffle this year has MORE opportunities for you to win. It is called the “You Choose” raffle. You may purchase tickets for which ever items you wish to win. There will be one chance to win the Travel Voucher and two chances to win a $1000 Scheels Shopping Spree.
1-$3000 Travel Voucher from Crystal Travel
1—$1000 Shopping Sprees at Scheels in Appleton
1—$1000 Shopping Spree at Scheels in Appleton
The tickets are $10.00 each or 3 for $25.00. You may purchase tickets for either auction item or BOTH. They are available before and after the weekend Masses in the narthex. They are also available at the Truck Stop and Schuellers Great exSPECHTations. You do not have to be present to win!! Both of the above raffles will be drawn at 3:00 pm the day of the Festival. On the day of the Festival there will be free drawings every half hour for a tent, water tube and gift cards. You DO have to present to win these drawings!!

SILENT AUCTION
As always there will be the St. Mary Magdalene Silent Auction. The items will be set up in the hallway by the office a few weeks in advance—in plenty of time for you to make your decision on which items you wish to bid on—and in plenty of time for you to keep bidding to win your item. There have been a lot of donations and the committee is working hard to put single items and packages together. This year we have a real treat. In the Silent Auction is a signed Clay Matthews jersey, donated by Richard Bergstrom. Be sure and take a good look at all of the items on the tables and bid on as many as you like.

GAMES
The Free Kids’ Games are very popular at the Festival. Our volunteers have worked hard coming up with fun games for all ages. New this year is a train that will traverse the Festival grounds during the day. This year the train is big enough to accommodate both children and adults. (We all like to be a child now and then). The Horse Races are also new this year. These are inflatable horses, in two different sizes, that are jumped across a finish line. Sounds like fun!!
Free games inside the tent are for the younger children. They consist of sand art, face painting, clowns and a short course miniature golf. Calls will be made looking for volunteers to help with the games.

FOOD
The food will be served after the Mass in the food tent. Who doesn’t love a roast pork dinner? Just like in the old days for many of us. Coming home from Sunday Mass with the house smelling of roast pork. A trip down memory lane! The roast pork dinner will be served with red potatoes, sauerkraut, beans and a dinner roll. Yum, Yum! For those of you who wish to eat lighter, there are hamburgers, brats and malt shop chocolate shakes and sodas. New to the Festival this year are French fries. Adult beverages are also served.
That leaves dessert—ice cream, pies, cakes, cookies—whatever satisfies the sweet tooth. The dessert committee will be calling for volunteers.
The Knights of Columbus will have their popcorn wagon at the Festival. They will be serving popcorn, nacho chips, cotton candy, sno cones, soda and water. As you can see there is ample to do and ample to eat. What else could you want???

THOSE BEHIND THE SCENE
This entire event would not be possible without those who work tirelessly behind the scenes. The hours are long and the work is often hard…but do they ever have fun!!! It starts almost a year ahead of time with the planning, the band, the games, the food and much more. Please consider being a part of this fun day. You can volunteer to help with the set up, the food, the games, the cooking, the baking, the clean up and much, much more.
